Regional Takeback Trial

Our regional trial in the West Midlands Combined Authority area will begin in early 2026, marking an important step toward improving the way leftover paint is collected and recycled across the region. This pilot initiative has been developed to provide both householders and professional decorators with a reliable, accessible, and environmentally responsible route for managing unwanted paint. By working in partnership with a selected group of retail stores and decorator centres, the programme will introduce designated drop‑off points where residents can bring surplus or old paint for safe handling and onward processing.

The initial phase of the trial will launch with a limited number of participating locations, chosen to ensure broad coverage and to help test the operational processes required for a future national scheme. As the trial progresses, additional stores will be added in stages, allowing the network to expand gradually while incorporating feedback, monitoring performance, and refining the service. This phased approach will support continuous improvement and help ensure that the system is both practical for users and effective in reducing the volume of paint entering general waste streams.

The stores shown below represent the first confirmed drop‑off sites for the West Midlands Combined Authority region. Further updates will be provided as new partners join the programme and as the trial evolves over the course of 2026.
